Alexander Roncevic Sets HYROX World Record at First Major of the Season

Athletes descended upon Hamburg, Germany, over the weekend for the first HYROX Major of the 2025/26 season.
- The Elite 15 field was filled with top competitors, including a notable, world record-breaking performance by Austrian athlete Alexander Roncevic.
Remind me: HYROX Hamburg took place over the weekend, returning to the city where it all started for the fitness race that has taken the industry by storm. The race was the first Major of the 2025/26 season. Elite athletes will have three more chances to earn their spot at the World Championships.
The details: On Friday, October 3, the Elite 15 men and women took to the competition floor. Roncevic started at the front of the pack and battled Dylan Scott throughout nearly the entire race. Scott pushed Roncevic on the runs in the second half of the race, and both athletes reached the final wall ball station almost at the same time.
It was Roncevic’s slightly faster wall ball cadence that both helped him win the division and set a new world record.
- He had a blistering time of 53:15, besting Hunter McIntyre’s previous record time of 53:22 from December 2023.
On the women’s side, Joanna Wietrzyk took the victory, leading the stacked field of athletes from nearly the start of the race all the way to the finish. The Australian trains with PRVN Fitness, the training program created by Shane Orr and Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr.
- Vivian Tafuto finished in second place, and Lauren Weeks rounded out the podium in third place.
- On the men’s side, Dylan Scott took second and Hidde Weersma took third.
Back in March, Wietrzyk and Toomey-Orr competed in the Pro Women’s Doubles division at the HYROX Houston event and set a world record of 54:24 (which has since been broken by Wietrzyk and Jess Pettrow).
- PRVN Fitness has made a significant investment in HYROX and is clearly emerging as a leader in the HYROX training space.
One last thing: With three more Majors, there’s a lot of opportunity for breaking records and setting big goals. The HYROX World Championships will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2026.
