  • Marchon Training, founded by former professional rugby player Ollie Marchon, offers plans for goals such as functional fitness, running, bodybuilding, and specific events like HYROX, all designed by elite coaches for fitness levels ranging from beginners to competitive athletes.

On December 7, Marchon launched a 12-week ATHX program, designed and coached by Smith. The plan has no set start date, as athletes can purchase the program and jump in at any time. Everything is streamlined in the Marchon app, including direct access to Smith and other coaches, who are there to help answer specific questions.

Smith was first introduced to ATHX several years ago in London by his friend, Josh Al-chamaa, and they had the opportunity to train at one of the Marchon gyms. This is where he met Marchon and his team.

  • “They’re a big part of the brains behind ATHX. I’d known about it for a while, and it seemed like a training style and was really aligned with what I was already doing,” Smith told Morning Chalk Up.

Skip to March of this year, when he competed in his first competition in Glasgow, Scotland, and won, beating fellow CrossFit legend Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson.

Later, he reached out to Marchon and his team, expressing his desire to become more involved.

After the athlete camp in Tenerife in October, he began putting together a training plan for his own program, and it went from there.

  • “I’ve programmed for myself for most of my career since I love to learn about training and need the flexibility to change stuff rapidly,” Smith said.

Smith shared that the program he designed is one he will follow himself, and he hopes it can evolve into an official coaching role as the sport continues to grow.

  • He and his wife, Jessi, are returning home to the United States in February (they’ve been based in the UK for the last several months). He hopes that after their move, he can maintain the connection with the Marchon team and looks forward to returning to the UK.

The 12-week plan is designed to prepare athletes for an ATHX competition, and the 2026 season dates are already published. Next up is ATHX London, January 31.
