U.S. Affiliates Received $47 Million in Federal Relief Loans
At least 3,900 CrossFit affiliates in the U.S. have received assistance from either the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) or the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, according to Covid Bailout Tracker, a project operated by the nonpartisan watchdog group Accountable.us. CrossFit HQ also received $3.18 million back in April under previous owner Greg Glassman, but the money has since been paid back in full according to a spokesperson for CrossFit.
The numbers: At least 58% (3,900) of all U.S.-based affiliates received some form of direct economic assistance during the spring.
Approximately $47 million was given out.
Loans range from $283,127, which went to Solace, to $504, for Dibe CrossFit in Michigan.
Let me start by saying this is 100% my opinion. This is not a news story.
And I’m also not here to browbeat CrossFit corporate either.
That being said, let’s begin.
“Take Care of Yourself” is a new holiday advertisement from Doc Morris, one of Germany’s biggest online pharmaceutical services, similar to services offered in the United States by CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid.
The viral video features an elderly man seemingly disappointed with life as he reflects back on all the things he used to be able to do.
With a fresh breath of motivation, he heads down to the shed and drags out a rusty old kettlebell. He tries moving it off the ground but barely gets above his knees.
Samantha Briggs Makes Her Move, Sets World Record in Episode 2 of the Spartan Games
Episode two of the “Spartan Games: Battle of the Fittest, presented by Harley-Davidson” featured two grueling events. The 24 athletes were put through a functional fitness workout and then took on a mountain bike event.
But before the athletes started the day, a change in the overall leaderboard occurred as both Hunter McIntyre and Aaron Newell were assessed penalties for their actions against each other in the opening event of the competition. The penalties dropped McIntyre from the overall lead to second behind reigning two-time Spartan Ultra World Champion Ryan Atkins. Newell received a harsher penalty than McIntrye and saw his placing drop from sixth to eighth.
CrossFitters Head to Germany for HYROX World Championships
Today a handful of CrossFit athletes are taking part in a competition. But it isn’t a CrossFit branded competition. Instead 2013 “Fittest Woman on Earth” Samantha Briggs will join crossfitters Adam Klink, Lauren Weeks and Hunter McIntyre in competing in the 2020 HYROX World Championships Elite 12 in Hamburg, Germany to find the “World Champion of Fitness”.
One big thing: The four athletes will compete in one of the few live, international competitions currently allowed during the global COVID-19 pandemic. After originally cancelling the event in November, the HYROX organizers worked with German health officials to come up with a competition that they could pull off safely. The result is that four CrossFit athletes traveled to Germany to compete against eight of the top HYROX athletes in the world.
The details:HYROX is a relatively new fitness organization, making its debut in 2017 where it quickly gained popularity in Europe for its combination of Spartan Race and functional fitness.

Here's a great breakfast idea from PaleOMG that combines the superfood antioxidents in blueberries with the heart-healthy fiber we could all use more of in the oats. And, sweetened up with a little maple syrup, it almost feels like you're eating a comforting blueberry cobbler.

A Superior Posterior with this One Banded Exercise
With gym closures and restrictions ramping up again, it's time to get creative at home. The banded pull-through is a great substitute for kettlebell swings and hip thrusts when you don't have the equipment, all you need is a rubber exercise band and a place to anchor it.
Our final community round-up of the week includes two fundraiser events and a holiday competition for adaptive athletes:
