New CrossFit CEO Search "Kicked Off"
At an affiliate town hall last week, CrossFit’s president Jason Dunlop revealed CrossFit has begun the search for a new CEO and outlined for the first time what they’re looking for.
Dunlop: “CrossFit is a business built around the coach with great leadership and stewardship, and those will be things we will be looking at really for the cultural fit for how we are going to evolve the business with them as the leader as CEO.”
“Their commitment to CrossFit will be absolutely a must as we continue this search. But also, we will be looking for an individual that will be like everybody on this call, humble and continue with the growth mindset as we continue to transform lives globally.
“And it will be underpinned completely with making sure the community and what we are at our heart at our strongest making sure to preserve the community and grow this together.”
Remind me: In early February, Eric Roza announced that he would be stepping down as CEO of CrossFit and moving to Chairman of the Board. Roza had been in the position for about a year-and-a-half after acquiring the company from founder Greg Glassman in the summer of 2020.
Who’s in charge right now: In the meantime, the senior leadership team appointed by Roza are in charge of key elements of the day to day operations:
Jason Dunlop – President
Erin Clift – Chief Marketing Officer
Justin Bergh – General Manager of Sport
Nicole Carroll – General Manager of Training and Education
Gary Gaines – Global Head of Affiliates
Jeremy Landis – Chief Technology Officer
Andrew Weinstein – Head of Communications and Public Policy

The Open is done and dusted, and almost before the dust has settled, Quarterfinals are here.

Spencer Panchik Plans to Punch his Ticket to the CrossFit Games
Spencer Panchik started his 2022 season making big moves like twin brother, Saxon. As Saxon headed to Nashville, Tennessee to train with PRVN, Spencer made a programming change of his own, joining Brute Strength.
“When I train with Saxon and Scott, sometimes you’re just going head to head and it’s just excruciating after a long time and learning to be able to do that without burning that candle low.”
Training side by side since starting CrossFit, the Panchik twins decided they both needed a change to discover their own true potential.
“We’re both going down roads that we both feel will make us very successful. It’s really a change for the both of us and it’s exciting. We’re both excited to be doing something different and see how the season goes.
”In 2021, Spencer narrowly missed punching his ticket to the CrossFit Games, finishing two spots out of qualifying at the West Coast Classic Semifinal. His seventh place finish brought him to the Last Chance Qualifier where his season ultimately ended. Spencer says those moments combined with the off-season is when he started to contemplate joining Brute Strength.
“Evaluating my fitness from last year to this year and all the way up through Wodapalooza, I would say a lot of it wasn’t necessarily my fitness, but it was just being around people who can help me execute and simulate that competitive environment as much as you can in practice without burning out.”
FITAID Recognizes Three Unsung Heroes of the 2022 CrossFit Open
When we watched Justin Medeiros rip through 100 deadlifts and 100 burpees in less than eight minutes during the 22.2 live Open announcement, or we see 18-year-old Mal O’Brien post an inhumanly fast time of 4:11 in 22.3, it’s easy to feel a little bit humbled by the fitness we have worked so hard for.
It’s easy to forget about what the Open is all about: the coming together of tens of thousands of CrossFit enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate how CrossFit has changed our lives, and in some cases saved our lives.
It’s easy to forget that an 18 year-old who had her foot amputated five weeks ago, a 54-year-old who was three breaths away from dying from COVID last year, and a 39-year-old former meth user, were also throwing down, putting forth their best in 22.1, 22.2 and 22.3.
It’s easy to forget about the ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Despite being one of the most researched supplements on the planet, there is still a ton of misinformation out there about creatine. Is it safe? When should I take it? How much do I take? All these (and more) are answered here.
