Spencer Panchik started his 2022 season making big moves like twin brother, Saxon. As Saxon headed to Nashville, Tennessee to train with PRVN, Spencer made a programming change of his own, joining Brute Strength.

  • “When I train with Saxon and Scott, sometimes you’re just going head to head and it’s just excruciating after a long time and learning to be able to do that without burning that candle low.”

Training side by side since starting CrossFit, the Panchik twins decided they both needed a change to discover their own true potential.

  • “We’re both going down roads that we both feel will make us very successful. It’s really a change for the both of us and it’s exciting. We’re both excited to be doing something different and see how the season goes.”

In 2021, Spencer narrowly missed punching his ticket to the CrossFit Games, finishing two spots out of qualifying at the West Coast Classic Semifinal. His seventh place finish brought him to the Last Chance Qualifier where his season ultimately ended. Spencer says those moments combined with the off-season is when he started to contemplate joining Brute Strength.

  • “Evaluating my fitness from last year to this year and all the way up through Wodapalooza, I would say a lot of it wasn’t necessarily my fitness, but it was just being around people who can help me execute and simulate that competitive environment as much as you can in practice without burning out.”

While Spencer didn’t move to Salt Lake City, Utah to train in person with coach Nick Fowler or head down to Naples, Florida to train with the company’s training camp, he says those opportunities are not off the table. He foresees making a trip during the 2022 season, potentially after Quarterfinals.

With so many CrossFit training programs in the mix, some might find deciding on a program a difficult decision. But for Spencer, it seemed to come naturally. He says with Nick Fowler and Brute Strength, he felt a sense of trust. And that trust is why he thinks this will be his year to show up on the floor in Madison.

  • “What is the ultimate goal this year? Qualify for the CrossFit Games.”
