WHO?

Charis Chan, the 58kg Olympic Weightlifter and 3x CrossFit regionals qualifier who’s score was removed last year and disqualified from the California Regional after CrossFit HQ caught wind that Chan failed a drug test at the 2015 USAW American Open.

WHAT HAPPENED NOW?

After a complete investigation, Chan was slapped with a full four year suspension by the United States Anti Doping Agency from competing at any official weightlifting events. She can lift again December 29, 2019.

WHAT ABOUT CROSSFIT?

CrossFit’s initial ban affected only the 2016 CrossFit Games season but made it very clear that because the final results were pending CrossFit would, “issue a final ruling on her competition status for following seasons once her appeal has been decided.”

When asked if they would extend her sanction,CrossFit HQ said they we’re in the middle of getting the Open started and would deal with it in turn. Registration for the CrossFit Open kicks off tomorrow, so looks like Chan could technically register but it seems unlikely she’ll be allowed to compete.
