Today, CrossFit HQ announced that the 2019 Granite Games will be an official CrossFit sanctioned event for the 2019 CrossFit Games season. This is the second sanctioned event to be announced, coming one week after the Dubai CrossFit Championship. These sanctioned events will replace CrossFit’s regional events as qualifiers to the CrossFit Games.

The CrossFit Granite Games, which kicked off its 8th year this morning, will be moved to June 2019 to coincide with the new CrossFit competition calendar: Open in October, sanctioned qualifiers from November through June, and the CrossFit Games in August.

“The Granite Games is our second sanctioned event partner and part of a new chapter for CrossFit,” said Greg Glassman, CrossFit’s Founder and Chairman. “Through sanctioned events like this one, we’ll be able to keep pace with the explosive growth and interest in the Games – and better serve our affiliates, trainers, and athletes at the same time.”

Changes to the Granite Games

  • Granite Games will move from September to June 2019.
  • The top male and female athlete, and team will receive a ticket to the 2019 CrossFit Games.
  • The Granite Games team competition format will be changed to comply with the CrossFit Games rulebook.

Past individual winners of the Granite Games include Sara Sigmundsdottir, Albert-Dominic Larouche, Saxon Panchik, Patrick Vellner and Dani Horan.
