Annie Thorisdottir, the two-time CrossFit Games champion and 10-time competitor, revealed that she will be releasing full videos of her first Open workout attempt each week on YouTube. The videos will be posted around 3:00 PM GMT / 8:00 AM PT every Friday for the next five weeks.
The decision is inspired in part to promote transparency at the top echelons of the sport. “I would like to see people test their fitness and less how close they can play the standards and camera angles,” Thorisdottir said.
Thorisdottir will also provide tips each week as well as thoughts before and after each workout.
“I LOVE the Open. It’s a great opportunity to share part of the season with the broad community and everyone at my gym.”
Last season, the CrossFit Games clamped down on video submission, assessing multiple penalties each week as well as requesting more video submissions to verify athletes’ scores.
The CrossFit Games superstar placed second in last year’s Open and will be going head-to-head against Patrick Vellner for the live 20.5 announcement organized by Filthy 150. Sponsored by Reebok, the event will take place in Boston, MA.
