Opinion: Score Submission Word To The Wise, Cross Your T’s and Dot Your I’s

There has been significant chatter online regarding issues on the athlete’s end with score submissions and getting their performances turned in before the deadline. There is a simple solution to all of this, and it starts and stops with personal accountability. I’ll expand on this momentarily but first a word to the wise.

Athletes, turn your scores in on time. Triple check, screenshot, and do not consider the job finished until you do. If there is an issue with submitting it, and you do your due diligence to not wait until the 11th hour, then believe it or not the Games support staff is there to help you.

  • At the risk of sounding callous, if you do not meet the agreed upon standard for score submission, something that no one seemed to have an issue with beforehand, then you must take accountability for your actions in what you had control over as an athlete, and accept the consequence thereafter.
  • Responsibility in the sport has always been three-fold for me. First it is the organization’s role to provide the rules and regulations clearly. Second, it is the participating parties (athletes) responsibility to adhere to those rules. Lastly, it is the organization’s responsibility to regulate accordingly when those rules are not met. In the instance of score submission deadlines only one piece of this equation did not hold up their end of the bargain.
