The Ketogenic Diet for Aerobic Performance; Silver Bullet or Too Good to be True?

The Ketogenic diet is one of the most popular diets that exists today. It is a low carbohydrate, adequate protein, high fat diet mainly used to control epilepsy in children but also touted as one superior for health in the general public. The low carbohydrate levels force the body to use fat as its primary fuel source, converting stored fat into ketones to supply energy. Every once in a while, you will also hear claims that it can help athletic performance by forcing the body to become more efficient at using fat stores for energy.

But is there any merit to those claims?
