The Day Mat Fraser Went to a Competition in a Prison

When Taden Jones, a recently-released inmate at Sterling Correctional Facility in Colorado, sent Mat Fraser a direct message on Instagram, he had no idea it would lead to a long-term partnership between the five-time CrossFit Games Champion and Redemption Road CrossFit, a CrossFit-based organization that works with inmates to provide exercise-based rehabilitation. 

Jones’ message struck a chord with the champ. 

“My name is Taden Jones, and I’m sure you get a lot of messages but I am willing to take a shot in the dark for something as amazing as I am to share with you,” it began.
