Who’s In, Who’s Out, and What’s Still to Come for the 2025 CrossFit Games Season

May 22, 2025 by
Athletes competing for the 2025 CrossFit Games season.

As the 2025 CrossFit Games season unfolds, we now know 42 of the 60 individual athletes (70%) who have earned tickets to Albany.

The In-Affiliate Semifinals leaderboard is finalized, and we’re halfway through the new IPQE format – five events have been completed, and five remain.

Remind Me

The Games athlete field has been reduced from 80 men and women to 60, and the qualification path is no longer linear.

For the previous few seasons, the structure and flow looked like this:

  •  CrossFit Open –> Quarterfinals –> In-Person Semifinals –> CrossFit Games

The 2025 structure is:

  • CrossFit Open –> Select IPQEs –> Online Semifinals –> More IPQEs –> Online LCQ – CrossFit Games

Regional Breakdown (So Far)

  • Europe – 6 men | 7 women
  • North America East – 6 men | 6 women
  • North America West – 5 men | 3 women
  • Oceania – 2 men | 2 women
  • South America – 2 men | 2 women
  • Asia – 0 men | 1 woman
  • Africa – 0 (minimum one man and one woman guaranteed)

Neither the Torian Pro nor the Far East Throwdown has region-specific eligibility, but travel limitations impact outside participation, effectively turning them into regionals.

Nonetheless, some athletes from other parts of the world are on the Torian leaderboard.

Standout Stories

Siria Meha, an Albanian rookie, won the In-Affiliate Semifinals after a penalty dropped Arielle Loewen from first to third place.

  • Meha took home over $8,000 and turned many heads. We are excited to see her compete live in New York.

Colin Bosshard followed a top-12 Open finish with a 10th-place result in the In-Affiliate Semifinals to qualify. The 24-year-old’s stock is rising quickly. He is also the reigning iF3 World Champion.

  • So far, only two male rookies (Bosshard and Moreira) and six female rookies (Meha, Greer, von Rohr, Muir, McGonigle, and Marquez) have qualified.

Early Predictions

For the first time, CrossFit has revealed an event for the 2025 Games before the final roster is set.

Event 1 — “Run, Row, Run”:

  • 4-mile run
  • 3k row
  • 2-mile run

Jeffrey Adler and Aimee Cringle are the current favorites for this endurance-heavy opener based on their recent performance at the WFP Tour Stop I.

  • However, if Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr qualifies, she’ll be the frontrunner once again. Emily Rolfe consistently poses a threat in running events, but she needs to qualify first as well.

What’s Next

Five IPQEs and the Last Chance Qualifier remain.

Four events happen concurrently across the globe next weekend (May 29/30 – June 1):

  • Torian Pro
  • Far East Throwdown
  • Rebel Renegade Games (Africa)
  • Syndicate Crown (North America East)

The last in-person opportunity to qualify, the Northern California Classic, takes place from June 6 to 8 and has no regional restrictions.

The Big Picture

There are 18 Games spots left (nine men, nine women).

Some notable athletes still seeking qualification include Brooke and Sydney Wells, Alex Gazan, and potentially Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr.

  • The women’s field could be wide open, with the top four from 2024 potentially not returning – Toomey-Orr (uncertain), Gabi Migala (Achilles injury), Emily Rolfe (not yet qualified), and Bethany Flores (back injury). Laura Horvath and Emma Lawson are also out.
  • On the men’s side, Jonne Koski narrowly missed qualifying both online and at Wodland, leaving only the Last Chance Qualifier. Samuel Kwant has officially stepped away from this season.

With the end of the Fikowski-Vellner era, and several other veterans opting not to compete, there are plenty of hungry young athletes eager to fill their shoes.
