Inside One of the Busiest CrossFit Seasons Ever – How Many Times Did Top Athletes Compete in 2025?

It’s October, and while a few marquee events – like the Rogue Invitational later this month and the World Fitness Project Finals in December – are still upcoming, most athletes have shifted into off-season mode. It’s a time to rest, recover, and reflect.
And what a season it’s been.
In 2025, elite athletes packed their schedules more than ever. Nearly 50 unique competitions showcased Games-level talent, with almost one event held each week throughout the year.
- For this breakdown, we examined athletes who advanced deep into the Games season or participated in the inaugural World Fitness Project Tour. From there, we tallied every major competition they entered, whether as individuals or on teams.
The result? Some athletes logged nine or even ten appearances, traveling the world, stacking points, and redefining what an “off-season” even means.
Here’s who competed the most in 2025 — and how they fit it all in.

Rank | Athlete | Season Count |
1 | Nick Mathew | 9 |
2T | Jonne Koski | 8 |

If we had extended this list further, it would have shown that there were also 15 men who competed in six competitions for the year.
The details: Nick Mathew topped the list with nine unique competitions on his calendar in 2025.
That includes two CrossFit Games In-Person Qualifying Events – the Mayhem Classic in April and the TFX Invitational in May – which Mathew won to qualify to the CrossFit Games, both elite individual and team at TYR Wodapalooza Miami, and both World Fitness Project Tour Stops for which Mathew qualified online.

Jonne Koski, Guilherme Malheiros, Jayson Hopper, and Ricky Garard tied for second with eight competitions in 2025, including the TYR Wodapalooza SoCal TYR Cup (three of the four competed there).
- Koski competed in the HustleUp Last Chance Qualifier to round out his eight competitions in 2025.
Among those athletes who top the list above – each with eight to nine competitions so far – Jonne Koski, Guilherme Malheiros, Jayson Hopper, and Ricky Garard will all still compete at the Rogue Invitational in Aberdeen, Scotland, at the end of October. Additionally, those athletes, plus Nick Mathew, will conclude the year with the World Fitness Project Finals in Copenhagen, Denmark, just before Christmas.
That means they could all be square at 10 each by the time 2026 rolls around.

We reached out to Hannah to ask about her season, and she also reminded us that she competed at the Dubai Fitness Championships in December 2024. After she competes one last time in 2025 at the WFP Finals, she will have completed a 12-month stretch with 11 competitions, averaging nearly one per month.
- “It was such a privilege to even have that many opportunities to compete at this level,” Black told the Morning Chalk Up. “This season had some incredible highs and lows, and I’m proud of how much I grew and how often I outperformed what I thought I was capable of.”
She continued, “But it wasn’t without its challenges; it took a toll mentally, physically, and financially. I truly wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of so many incredible people around me. Going into next season, I’m going to be more selective on the competitions I choose to do, depending on the opportunities they offer.”
Alexis Raptis, Brooke Wells, Olivia Kerstetter, and Black have the potential to complete 10 competitions by the end of the year. Black still has the WFP Finals, and Raptis, Wells, and Kerstetter all have both the WFP Finals and Rogue Invitational.
With more changes likely to be announced for next season, along with the return of Quarterfinals to the CrossFit Games season and potential expansion of the World Fitness Project season, could we see athletes compete more than 10 times in 2026?
