What happened?

Laura Hosier, who declined her individual invitation to compete as a member of East Woodbridge, announced on Instagram that she has tested positive for higenamine. CrossFit HQ emailed her Monday to break the news that she and her teammates would not be going to Madison after all.

No way.

Way, and she owned up to the mistake right away. Hosier had taken a preworkout by Allmax called “Impact Igniter” that contained the banned substance. Purchased at a local shop she drank it without reading the ingredients and it cost her, and her team a spot at the CrossFit Games.

What happens now?

The whole team is now disqualified. No word yet on who will take the spot, but we reached out to sixth placed CrossFit Queens but didn’t hear back before publication. Also, no word yet whether Hosier also received a multi-year ban that usually accompanies a positive drug test.

One last thing to note. This announcement comes a full month after the initial drug test which took place on Sunday, May 20, immediately following Event 6. This means that any failed tests for Regionals week 3 won’t likely come until early July, decreasing the liklihood any athlete or team is called up to fill that spot.
