The CrossFit community will have to wait a little longer for the season debut of the current fifth fittest woman Annie Thorisdottir, who announced today that she will no longer be competing at the Dubai CrossFit Championship next week due to injury.  She will still attend the event in Dubai and support her long-time boyfriend, Frederik Aegidius, who is competing.

Thorisdottir, a two-time champion, five-time podium finisher and forbearer of the modern women’s competition recently had a procedure to assess a heart condition, and is letting a nagging shoulder injury heal.

“My shoulder has been recovering since the Games, I hurt it before Regionals,” revealed Thorisdottir, “It’s so much better but if I want to think about (the) competition season next year then it is the right call not to compete.”

The decision also opened a window to get her heart issue examined. “I got the opportunity to get a surgery for the heart irregularity that I have had for a few years,” Thorisdottir said. “That meant no training at all for 7-10 days and means I wasn’t really meant to be in Dubai this year.”

The Dubai CrossFIt Championship kicks off Wednesday December 12th, at 8am GMT+4. Get all the info on how to watch the event here
