Workout Prediction: If 20.2 Is a Repeat

One week down and no repeat yet. We’re not saying that 20.2 is going to be a repeat, but if it is, here are a few of the best candidates for repeats.

But first, some important facts to know.

  • There has only been one movement repeated in the same year: bar facing burpees in 16.1 and 16.5. So let’s assume no repeated movements for the sake of this exercise.
  • We’re going to assume that the repeated workout will be pulled from the same week it was originally programmed. Every repeat since 2014 has been re-tested the same week it was originally announced, except for in 2018, when 11.6 was voted as the repeat workout. (Ex. 11.1 is 14.1)
  • No WODs from 2013 has ever been repeated; 2011 has had three repeats and 2014 has had two.
  • Thrusters have been in the final week every year. 
  • A WOD from week 3 has NEVER been re-tested.
  • No two-part WOD has ever been repeated. (Ex. 18.2 and 18.2a, or 15.1 and 15.2a)

Of all the previous week 2 workouts, the following can be eliminated:

  • 12.2 — We just did ground-to-overhead so we’re probably not doing snatches again.
  • 14.2 — It’s already been repeated once before (15.2).
  • 16.2 — Repeated last year as 19.2.
  • 18.2 and 18.2a — Already did bar facing burpees. Check that one off the list.

We think these three workouts have the best chance of being repeated, if 20.2 is a repeat.

  • 17.2 — Best chance of being repeated.
    • 12 minute AMRAP
      2 Rounds:
      50ft DB walking lunge, 16 TTB, 8 DB power cleans
      then 2 rounds of:
      50ft DB walking lunge
      16 bar MU
      8 DB Cleans
  • 13.2 — Wouldn’t be the craziest idea.
    • 10 minute AMRAP
      5 shoulder to overhead (115/75)
      10 deadlift (115/75)
      15 box jumps (24/20)
  • 11.2 — Won’t catch us in Vegas placing any bets.
    • 15 minute AMRAP
      9 deadlifts (155/100)
      12 hand-release push-ups
      15 box jumps (24/20)
