My coaches can’t sell.

Many a small gym owner has uttered these words, frustrated, feeling as though they’re the only one committed to acquiring new clients.

Despite the common complaint, many others in the industry think that expecting coaches to be salespeople for your gym, or have an entrepreneurial mindset at all, is unrealistic. CrossFit LLC CEO Eric Roza and Two-Brain Business Founder Chris Cooper being two of them.

“We have tried (to turn coaches into entrepreneurs). We have said, ‘Wow, this coach is so good. Why aren’t they better at getting personal training clients? Or why weren’t they able to convince the local high school to keep the football team training with us?…Some coaches are going to be great at that, and some just want to be great coaches,” Roza said in an exclusive interview with the Morning Chalk Up last year.
