Sam Briggs Never Stops: Poised for Possible Podium Finish in Dubai

Just three months away from turning 40, and with nine individual CrossFit Games appearances to her name, Sam Briggs is proving once again at the Dubai CrossFit Championships this weekend that she can still hang with the fittest CrossFit athletes in the world.

After two full days of competition, the 2013 CrossFit Games champion sits in fourth place overall, 22 points behind Gabi Migala in third, with four scored events left to go.

Briggs in Dubai: Briggs started out the competition on Thursday with a win in an event that featured a ski erg and hill run in the snow, and then turned around with a fourth place finish in the second event, a snowy hill run with a weighted vest.

An endurance athlete known for her engine and upper body strength, Briggs, unsurprisingly, took a dip on the third event, a max clean and jerk, placing 18th overall, but rebounded with another event win on an event including rowing, A-Jumps with a weighted vest, sandbag cleans, bar muscle-ups and parallette handstand push-ups.
Heading into Day 3, with four scored events to go, Briggs has a legitimate chance to get to the podium in Dubai. And while the final event is yet to be released, the first event on Saturday features 30 ring muscle-ups, while another is a couplet of rowing and burpees, all movements Briggs has been known to excel at.
