Canadian Samuel Cournoyer’s return to individual competition will have to wait a little longer as he has now withdrawn from the upcoming Dubai Fitness Championship, which is scheduled to take place December 2-4. Dubai confirmed that Cournoyer will be replaced by Moritz Fiebig of Germany, who finished 36th at the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games. Fiebig has accepted his invitation.

Dubai requires all athletes to earn a qualification spot through the online qualifier.

Some background:

  • Fiebig narrowly missed out on an invite originally, finishing just one point outside of a 20th-place qualifying spot.
  • He finished 15th last year at the 2021 Dubai Fitness Championship.
  • He finished 4th at the 2022 CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown to earn his first appearance at the Games.
  • He won the 2022 CrossFit German Throwdown.
