Coming into this weekend’s European Semifinal, not many have ever heard of German athlete Moritz Fiebig, but over the past two days you’ve definitely been hearing his name a lot.

  • Through the first 5 tests of the weekend, Fiebig has shown off in front of his home crowd and finished all events in 8th place or better, with an average finish of 6th.

Fiebig’s success over the past 2 days of competition may come as a surprise to some, but it is not entirely shocking, considering that Moritz Fiebig already made his 1st Crossfit Games appearance last year where he finished 36th.

Following this year’s Quarterfinals Fiebig is ranked 32nd overall, but if he keeps up this momentum on the last day of Semifinals, his ranking will undoubtedly shoot way up.

But what sparked his exceptional performance so far?

Fiebig credits his time with the Progrm in Mallorca, Spain where he trains alongside many other Crossfit Games athletes.

Instead of programming for himself and training on his own, he has had the chance to compete against the best in the world and prove to himself that he can hold his own.

Currently sitting in 2nd place overall and with just 2 events to go, it looks like Moritz Fiebig is going to make his 2nd straight trip to the Crossfit Games and do it on his home turf to the enjoyment of all the fans in Berlin.
