What Happens When We Overeat During the Holidays?
‘Tis the season for a lot of things! Time away from work, quality time with family, outdoor activities, and probably, most notably for many people, a little more food than we might normally consume. One of the things that makes the holiday season so panic-inducing is the lack of control we often feel over our food options and our tendency to get our hands stuck in the cookie jar. Or perhaps we go full blackout and wake up after a two-hour-long food coma in our uncle Harold’s Lay-Z-Boy.
Conventional nutrition wisdom tells us that when we eat more than we burn, we gain fat. And this is true, but how much damage can actually be done in one day?
