With the season’s first off-season “major” approaching at the end of the month, we’ve already addressed how a majority of these athletes competed at the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games. But, there are also three athletes, two men and one woman, competing at Rogue, who missed out on the Games this past summer:

  • Ben Smith and Samuel Kwant both failed to qualify out of the MACC Semifinal
    • Smith simply didn’t do well enough on the competition floor that weekend
    • Kwant and his camp (CompTrain) sited a previously undisclosed medical condition that affected his performance that weekend
  • Kari Pearce qualified out of the West Coast Classic, but was ultimately prevented from competing due to Covid

All three athletes have received, and accepted, invitations to Rogue. For Smith and Pearce this will be their second appearance at Rogue (Pearce was 6th in 2019, Smith was 14th in the same year). This will be Kwant’s first time competing at a Rogue event.

The question we want to ask today is, which of these three athletes is most likely to place highest at the 2021 Rogue Invitational.
