Brandon Tucker’s journey to completing 1,300 muscle-ups in 24 hours, setting a Guinness World Record in the process this February actually started all the way back in 2009.

“It wasn't until I watched my older brother deploy to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010 that I knew what it was that I wanted to do,” said the 31-year-old, who is still waiting on verification from Guinness for his record. “At the time I was 20 years old working in the back of a sawmill stacking ties and lumber.”

Tucker said at that point, he was your typical 20-year-old, figuring what he didn’t want from his life, getting in trouble and finding out “what hard work really was.”
