Sara Sigmundsdottir Sits Seventh after Day One at 2022 Lowlands Throwdown

One of Iceland’s fabled “Dottirs,” CrossFit star Sara Sigmundsdottir returned to the competition floor today for the CrossFit Lowlands Throwdown Semifinal and sits seventh overall after two events.
She’s 56 points behind day one leader Laura Horvath (192) with 136 points and is trying to get back to the form that saw her place third in 2015 and 2016, and fourth in 2017.
One big thing: She currently sits only 8 points outside of a fifth place qualifying spot after finishing 10th and 8th respectively in the first two events of the day in Amsterdam.
- The first workout was 10 rounds for time (1 legless rope climb, 15 foot Run for 170 foot in total).
- The second workout was for time (1200m air runner, 3 rounds, 12 axle bar deadlifts 121/89 kg, 6m out and back handstand walk).
The big picture: Injuries have come at incredibly inopportune times for Sigmundsdottir, including last year which saw her have to drop out of the season due to a knee injury before the 2021 CrossFit Open, missing the 2021 CrossFit Games.
- She returned to action this past December, coming in seventh at the Dubai CrossFit Championship, however in January had to withdraw from Wodapalooza halfway through the competition due to an injury. It was not disclosed if it was related to a previous knee injury.
