Team Athletes From Syndicate Crown and MACC Fail Drug Test
In the first drug testing announcement following Semifinals, CrossFit revealed that two team athletes–Hunter Williams of Team CrossFit CLT and Jaylond Franklin of CrossFit Shoofly Storm Squadron–provided post-competition urine samples that included banned substances.
From the announcement:
- “Hunter Williams of Team CrossFit CLT provided a sample that contained GW1516 sulfoxide, a metabolite of GW1516, at the Syndicate Crown on May 22, 2022.”
- “Jaylond Franklin of CrossFit Shoofly Storm Squadron provided a sample that contained GW1516 sulfoxide and GW1516 sulfone, metabolites of GW1516, at the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge on May 29, 2022.”
Both athletes have appealed the results, and these findings remain unofficial until the appeal process is completed. It may not be well-known, but CrossFit only selects, at random, two athletes from each team to test at the Semifinal stage.
If the appeal fails, the athletes will receive a four year suspension and their teams will be ineligible to compete in the 2022 CrossFit Games.
