Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir Launch Pregnancy Program

CrossFit Games champions Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir turned their next dreams into reality on October 15 with the launch of their company’s newest program, Empower Pregnancy.
- Thorisdottir, who is currently pregnant with her third child, said that they are also finalizing an eight-week postpartum program designed to “facilitate healing and regain core and pelvic floor strength.”
Remind Me
In spring 2024, Thorisdottir and Davidsdottir launched Empower by Dottir, providing training programs for women experiencing perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause.
- Today, more than 1,000 women of all fitness and experience levels follow their programs, which were developed in partnership with Dr. Stacy Sims, a world-renowned exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist who focuses on women’s health.
The Pregnancy Program Details
This time, the Dottirs partnered with Brianna Battles, the founder of Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism, a company that provides fitness programs for athletes and certifications for coaches.
- “We knew we needed to seek expert guidance as the first step to validate the program and provide our women with, not only the best training to fit their changing bodies, but also the guidance they need to treat their bodies the right way during this time,” Thorisdottir told Morning Chalk Up.
The program, based on Battles’ The Pregnant Athlete Program, begins in week four of pregnancy and continues until week 40. However, women can also opt to start the program at week 20 for a reduced price.
An at-home version is also available, along with additional resources like mobility, rehabilitation, pelvic floor strength and relaxation exercises, and birth prep videos. All of these programs are accessible on demand through their app.
One Big Thing
Many women look for fitness advice during pregnancy, but finding the right guidance is challenging. It’s a problem Thorisdottir and Davidsdottir have dedicated themselves to fixing.
- “Pregnancies can be so different, so giving advice without being present in person has been one of my biggest pet peeves,” Thorisdottir said. “I have received so many questions on social media, but have always been very vague in my recommendations and suggestions as I do not have any medical background to provide such guidance.”
What she did do, however, was tell new moms to listen to and be respectful of their bodies.
- “I have always found that being consistent brings the best results, and pregnancy should be no different,” she added. “Stick to your routines and focus on keeping your body as healthy and happy as you can. Your baby will feel that.”
Ultimately, their pregnancy program allows Thorisdottir to help women the way she has always wanted.
- “Working closely together with Brianna Battles, who has helped thousands of women through this period, gives me peace of mind that Empower can help even more women, keeping them happy, healthy, and strong during pregnancy,” she said.
The Big Picture
While every pregnancy journey is unique, Empower’s program has a clear goal: to help women feel confident, strong, and supported as they stay active throughout pregnancy.
- Thorisdottir added: “Our mission is to not only help them stay physically active, but also to ensure they feel educated, safe, and empowered to make choices that work best for them and their changing body.”
