Day 3 Lay of the Land

In just a few short hours, individuals and teams take the field to begin their week at the 17th annual NOBULL CrossFit Games in Madison, WI. They will take on three events worth 300 points in the first of two days before the first set of cuts (bringing the individual fields to 30 athletes each by Saturday morning).

Meanwhile, the age groups and adaptive athletes will finish out their 2023 season with two events, culminating in an awards ceremony at 7:15 PM CT.

The first test for the individuals, “Ride” is a 40 minute AMRAP of loops around a closed track on TREK Marlin 8 bikes. Athletes will be scored based on the fastest time to complete the most number of rounds. In other words, partial or unfinished rounds will not count.

When asked about how it feels being back on the competition floor after his biceps tendon tear last season, men’s 35-39 division leader Sam Dancer said:

  • “Like a dream. I love this shit. It’s a bummer that I lost a year of competing but I’m stoked that I was able to recover in time to make it back out here. I really enjoy competing.”

One big number: 6 – The number of event wins Upper Extremity Division adaptive athlete Casey Acree so far….out of 6 total events.
