ROGUE INVITATIONAL/DAY 4 LAY OF THE LAND
The final day of the 2023 Rogue Invitational will be underway soon with severe weather in the forecast once again. Like yesterday, the athletes are scheduled for three events with another 300 points up for grabs. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Pat Vellner enter the final day in the lead, but as yesterday showed, big swings on the leaderboard can happen in any event.
The big hill, emblazoned with the Rogue logo has been sitting in center field all week and today, athletes will finally be put to the test, climbing it in two different events. In “Hulk Hands,” they will have to push a sled up the hill as part of the down-and-back, chipper-style workout, then in “Big Cat,” they will run up and down it five times.
The 2023 Fittest Woman on Earth, Laura Horvath described her performance in “The Duel III” following her second-place finish to Dani Speegle:
- “I just raced to the level of my competitors. Every time a heat went faster, I just went faster,” she said.
One big number: 610 – That’s the total number of pounds lifted by Chandler Smith to win Event 6.
