Rumors of a documentary in the works on the 2018 CrossFit Games were confirmed over the weekend by multiple sources. There is no known release date at this time.

  • A first glimpse was posted to Dave Castro’s  Instagram story with a file name titled “2018doc_RoughScreener.mp4.”

One big thing: The documentary will not be produced by The Buttery Bros’ Marston Sawyers and Heber Cannon, who have produced the other award-winning CrossFit Games documentaries.

  • Their most recent documentary “Resurgence” was the number one downloaded movie in America the day it launched.
  • It’s unclear who is producing the 2018 documentary.

Remind me: Shortly after the 2018 CrossFit Games, the sport was thrown into turmoil as then owner Greg Glassman laid off dozens of Games staff, including almost the entire media staff, and drastically altered the Games structure and season.

  • The project was scrapped even though The Buttery Bros’ Marston Sawyers and Heber Cannon had already filmed many of the interviews and segments.
