Tia-Clair Toomey is the dominant force for the women’s competition that Mat Fraser, and before him Rich Froning, were for the men’s field. She is coming back this year on a mission to claim her fifth straight title and we will be following that story closely throughout the Games. Today, Tommy Marquez and Brian Friend will be evaluating the rest of the field, debating whether the other two podium spots are more likely to be occupied by international athletes or by women from the United States.

Tommy, the International Contingency: Pretty simple, just can’t be a woman from the U.S.

Brian, Women From the United States: Can only select women who have their listed country as the United States.

*Both analysts will select five women given the criteria and go back and forth discussing the likelihood and plausibility for each selection.
