Confirmed: Backfilled Teams Were Tested at the Games

Four Semifinal teams that were extended invites to the CrossFit Games after four other teams tested positive for a banned substance were all tested at the CrossFit Games, the Morning Chalk Up confirmed.
One big thing: The four teams — Timberwolf CrossFit, 12 Labours, CrossFit Reignited Wilmington and Team Man Made — were not tested before arriving at the CrossFit Games because they originally did not qualify as one of the top five teams and CrossFit typically only tests the qualifying athletes, though there have been exceptions to this.
- According to the CrossFit Games rulebook, section 4.15 states: “Drug testing is required for any individual athlete or team to advance to the Games or to collect prizes.”
- An athlete or representative for all four teams confirmed to Morning Chalk Up they were tested on either day 1 or day 2 of competition.
In addition to the four team disqualifications this season, one individual athlete also tested positive, bringing the total to five sanctions issued this season.
