Growing up in Reykjavik, Iceland, Sólveig Sigurðardóttir admits she was not sporty, at all.

“I was always a big boned child, always a little bit on the chubbier side and I could gain weight very easily,” said the 26-year-old. “I tried a lot of sports as a kid, but I was never really good at anything, so I just didn't really bother with it. I was the kind of kid who would stop, I would try to get away with as little as possible, so I never really found any joy in life when it came to exercise at that age.”

However at the age of 16 in 2013, Sigurðardóttir started going to the gym, playing a few sports like handball. She said the turning point was heading into college and wanting to look and feel better about herself.
