Five veterans are about to spend a lot of time with five athletes. Representatives from the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard will partner with fitness leaders like Dan Bailey, Brista Mayfield, and Kari Pearce for 30 straight hours of work.

The 2022 iteration of the Big Fish Foundation Fundraiser will take place on May 13-15 at the Crooked Butterfly Ranch in Colorado. The physical portion of the event will begin on Saturday, May 14, and will come to a close at 3 PM on Sunday, May 15.

  •  The 30-hour event will be split up into two, 12-hour segments featuring three stages of activities. The partners will take part in basic orienteering, shooting, a trail course, and a variety of workouts.
  • The partners will split up at the end of the first 12-hour segment. They will begin the events again while dealing with some unannounced “surprises” from the event organizers.

Rogue Fitness, O2 Recovery, Ice Age Meals, and Trueform Running will serve as the main sponsors for the third annual fundraiser, and they will provide prizes for the raffle. Good Dudes Coffee and Concept2 will also donate prizes of their own.

Get involved: The third annual Big Fish Foundation Fundraiser will feature a limited number of participants, but other people can get involved and show support. They can make donations to the foundation through May 15. Those that donate more than $100 will be eligible for a raffle featuring prizes from the biggest sponsors and some exclusive events.

Why this matters: The veteran suicide rate among 18-34-year-olds is up 86% since 2006, and more than 114,000 veterans have died by suicide since 2001. The Big Fish Foundation is on a mission to support veterans through education and training in the campaign against suicide, as well as provide opportunities for connection and physical activity.
