Spectating in San Jose? 9 Things You Don’t Want to Miss
Watching the fittest athletes in the world throw down at the 20th CrossFit Games gives diehard CrossFit enthusiasts enough incentive to travel to San Jose, CA, this weekend. But it doesn’t stop there for fans.
From Scott Panchik-led workouts to the chance to squat with Mat Fraser, to exclusive product launches and giveaways, here are nine things to enhance your spectator experience at the CrossFit Games.
INOV8
One of the first shoe brands to enter the CrossFit space in 2009, INOV8 said they just had to be part of the 20th CrossFit Games, so they’re showing up in a big way.
- On Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m., they will set up a NaturalFit Service Center and host a workout — in partnership with the apparel company LSKD — at The Playground, a gym within walking distance of the SAP Center.
Attendees will receive free LSKD shorts and drinks. Also, INOV8 is keeping some things a secret, but trust us when we say: Don’t sleep in on Saturday morning. Attending this event will be much better than an extra hour of sleep. (Register here).
And if you’re a Scott Panchik fan, you’re in luck because the nine-time Games athlete will be programming and coaching the workout.
LSKD
Not only is the popular apparel company taking over The Playground on Saturday with INOV8, but they’re also hosting a community run with eight-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr on Friday morning. The 30-minute run starts and ends at Chromatic Coffee, and attendees will have the chance to shop Toomey-Orr’s exclusive collection before it’s released to the public.
Velites
As the official apparel, footwear, hand grips, and jump rope partner of the CrossFit Games, Velites will be around all weekend with their limited-edition CrossFit Games collection.
- Those who buy their CrossFit Games apparel online won’t receive it until September, but those in San Jose will get their hands on it immediately and will also have the chance to customize it on site.
Additionally, Velites will host workshops around the stadium area throughout the Games, and look out for QR code giveaways they’ll roll out all week.
PRVN Fitness
PRVN Fitness will be hard to miss in San Jose, with their experience booth located in the SAP Center’s vendor village, where they’ll be selling merchandise and running challenges and activations. PRVN is also hosting off-site events, including networking and social events for affiliate owners and coaches, as well as workouts for fans. (Register via the CrossFit Games app).
Keep your eyes peeled for more news as it drops, as PRVN has other surprises in the works.
PRVN’s Off-Site Workouts:
- Wednesday, July 22: 7 a.m. at the CrossFit Owners and Coaches Conference (CFOCC)
- Saturday, July 24: 6 a.m. at CrossFit Silicon Valley (in partnership with Wodify)
- Sunday, July 26: 6 a.m. at CrossFit Silicon Valley (in partnership with Wodify)
Worth noting: CrossFit Silicon Valley will also be opening their doors for drop-ins all week, if 6 a.m. is too early for you.
HWPO
Interested in squatting or benching with Mat Fraser? Or maybe just hitting a 5k run, or sweating for an hour in the gym after watching the fittest athletes in the world, which just reminded you how much fitter you could be?
- From classic CrossFit workouts to bodybuilding, HYROX, run club, “Bench with Mat,” and weightlifting sessions, HWPO will take over NCFIT Campbell all weekend and has all your fitness needs covered. HWPO merchandise will also be available at NCFIT Campbell. (Register for a workout here).
Or if you’re more interested in a workshop for gym owners and coaches or a life Q&A with Mat Fraser and Matt O’Keefe, that’s on the docket, too.
R.A.D®
Shoe company is another brand hosting a spectator workout. Theirs, in partnership with 2POOD, is at CrossFit Myo on Saturday, July 25th at 7 a.m.
- “Sling some weight, send it on a workout, with plenty of hangs to follow … Post-workout burritos on us,” says their event overview
Wodify
The gym management software company that will be taking over CrossFit Silicon Valley for the week with PRVN is another brand with plenty of spectator experiences lined up in San Jose.
- Wodify will also be hosting hourly swag giveaways all weekend and will be providing free cold brew from Paper Street Coffee.
You can also find a Wodify booth at the CFOCC, where they’ll be giving away free swag and hosting educational presentations for gym owners, including one by Ben Timm, who will share retention strategies that set thriving gyms apart.
Finally, Wodif is hosting a workout at the SAP Center on July 24 at 6:30 a.m. for those who want an early-morning workout (and some free swag) before a long day of watching fitness.
YETI
For the first time ever, Yeti will be on site at the Games selling products. And they’re bringing an engraver with them so you can bring your YETI drinkware to their booth and have it customized.
WurQ
Not only is WurQ, the CrossFit Games Performance Analytics Partner, offering a generous prize purse for athletes who wear their technology throughout the CrossFit Games, but they’re also thinking about the fan experience in San Jose.
- The WurQ scavenger hunt: WurQ will post secret locations on social media throughout the week. Spectators then need to head to each location, find a WurQ team member wearing a WurQ t-shirt, and answer a CrossFit trivia question to win a lifetime WurQ membership.
The Big Picture
CrossFit has always been as much about community as competition, so it’s no surprise that loyal brands create opportunities for spectators to train, connect, and take home an experience they won’t find anywhere else.
If you’re a brand planning spectator activations in San Jose, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll add you to the list.
