For all the worrying, sweating, and fretting that comes with the CrossFit Open, the five-week long competition is filled with some of the most inspiring moments that will warm you cold fitness heart.

Here are seven of our favorites from Week 1.

1. This 55+ masters athlete who said she’s doing the Open because she “refuse[s] to age gracefully” and show “thousands of other women my age [that they] can do it.”

2. When Brooke, who is visually impaired, no-repped herself for not pausing in the hang position.

It was so awesome to coach Brooke’s (an athlete who’s visually impaired) 1st Open workout! The extra awesome thing is see what able to do everything in the scaled division with no modifications needed! One thing I want to point out is her character, in her last round she did a Power Clean instead of deadlifting first. She recognized the mistake brought the rep down and made sure to start with a “good” rep. Her character and positive attitude is exactly what I look for within all my athletes, so it was a blessing for everyone to be able to train alongside her at our Friday Night Lights. Beautiful things happen #intheopen and I believe this is definitely one of them! @crossfit @crossfitfif @crossfitgames @crossfittraining @morningchalkup @fitaid @fun.ning #crossfit #crossfitfif #GoBrooke #crossfitgames #crossfitgames2018 #godisgood #athlete #coach #strongwomen #crossfitgirls

I was just talking smack about my Mom to @hayleymatossian saying, “I bet my Mom hasn’t signed up for the @crossfitgames OPEN yet, I’m going to make her do it today.” And then 5 minutes later @mattbischel sends me this video of @rosemarymatossian doing the #OPEN at @crossfitsantacruz #74yearsold
