Older, wiser, and with a higher ratio of Type 1 muscle fibers, masters athletes are a special group and although not fair off from their younger counterparts in terms of performance, some special attention to a few areas of nutrition can keep performance at an elite level for a long time.

It is commonly thought that as we age, our metabolism slows down, which impacts everything from body weight, body composition, performance, strength, appetite, etc. While it is not false that our needs change as we age, there is nothing fundamentally different about our metabolism compared to our younger selves.
