In the weeks leading up to the 2013 Regionals, Jackie was announced as one of the workouts. Every single day leading up to the weekend of competition I did that workout or some form of It as part of my training.

Once Regionals came around, I set the event record.

The sport of CrossFit has evolved a lot since back when I was competing, but one thing I learned from my days as a CrossFit Games athlete still stands; In order to achieve anything that matters, you have to embrace the monotony of the mundane little things, and that makes a huge impact over a long period of time.

This is something that I learned as an athlete but I have applied it to every aspect of my life. As a father, business owner, and coach, I’ve come to embrace the fact that the little habits matter.

As January rolls around, like many people out there, I am ready for a little reset. As a father of two amazing kids, the holidays can be a tough time for anyone, me included, to stay super disciplined when it comes to fitness and nutrition.

I get it, consistency can be tough while navigating holidays, travel, and lack of routine. But now that we have started a New Year, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can tap back into my years as an athlete to start this year off strong and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

“In order to achieve anything that matters, you have to embrace the monotony of the mundane little things, and that makes a huge impact over a long period of time.”

So selfishly, I had the team at NCFIT put together a challenge to help keep me and our team accountable so we could really walk the walk and put in the necessary effort to make 2022 the best year we’ve ever had—both as a company and as a group of like-minded individuals that value the effort it takes to be the healthiest versions of ourselves.

Whether you end up joining us for the EOE40 challenge or not, the one thing that makes this challenge different is something you can take away from this write-up and apply it to your life today.

One of the four components of the challenge is to have a clean sink at the end of every day. The #cleansinkclub may not seem like an obvious component of a fitness and nutrition challenge, but we believe it can be the most powerful and transformative habit we all work on throughout the challenge.

Closing out the day with a spotless kitchen is symbolic of finishing the day with a win when no one else is looking. It is a small habit; Some may say it is not a big deal. Just leave the dishes to soak and take care of it in the morning, right? What people don’t realize is that it is a big deal because how you do anything, is how you do everything.

Even if you are always on top of keeping a clean kitchen, we all have something in our lives that we tend to push off and just hide behind closed doors instead of getting it done when it should get done.

For everyone that joins us for the EOE40 challenge, identifying what your #cleansinkclub is and committing to flawlessly executing that habit for 40 days is something we believe will be transformative for everyone that participates.

I hope that you decide to join me, the NCFIT team, and our community for the EOE challenge starting this Monday January 10th. And even if you don’t, find what your clean sink habit is in your life and work on that this year. You’d be surprised at the impact it can have on the rest of your life.
